Prospecting

Apr 25, 2017 | Blog

This photo was taken at a trade show in Anaheim, CA.  Over 80,000 people were in attendance.  That’s a lot of salespeople!

Prospecting can be exhausting.  I am the opposite.  I become almost euphoric, I think because I see it as a challenge, how many quality connections can I make?  And I have a strategy before I start.

Here are the key points I must know before the first exchange of business cards or contact information.

  • What am I selling
  • What is the quality
  • How fast is turn around time
  • Who can afford my product or service
  • Why will is solve a problem for them

I use simple tools like Evernote for taking notes at a booth and associating them with a photo.  After 2-3 days, all your contacts will become a blur without some memory trigger.
